Stick catch
Hit the hat towards the center to give it a little more height and
then as it comes down, catch the hat on the end of the stick. You are now in position to
do the stick start.
Head catch
Hit the hat dead center so that it goes high in the air, when it
returns catch it on your head. See the head catch in the main tricks
section for more advice about how to catch a hat on your head. It's
probably a wise idea to learn the throw to the head first.
Foot catch
As for the head catch, hit the hat so that it goes higher
than usual, this time catch it on the tip of your foot. You are now in position
to do a kick up.
